Riso 🖨️

Challange

Translating digital artwork into Risograph prints involves significant technical "guesswork" due to unpredictable ink overlaps, which creates barriers for non-experts and leads to confussion during workshops as well as time and material waste. It was prepared for Obra Press to help them run workshops without too much laptops.

Approach

Developed an interactive web-based simulation using p5.js that mimics the behavior of Riso inks. The system was built as an open and educational tool to help artists understand the relationship between digital design and analog print processes through real-time color modeling.

Outcome

The prototype became a practical visualisation aid that bridged digital and analog workflows, making print design more accessible, sustainable, and transparent for independent artists and newbies. It was a start of my journey into accessible design.
